Coalition Receives Letter from Oregon Governor Kotek Ahead of Feb. 16 Day of Action

Leading up to the Child Care for Oregon (CCFO) coalition Day of Action at the Oregon State Capitol on Monday, February 16, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek sent the following letter to attendees, advocates, and partners:

February 16, 2026

Dear Child Care for Oregon Lobby Day Advocates,

Welcome to your Capitol for your advocacy day! I am so glad you are here. Thank you for the work you do every day on behalf of children and families across our state.

Your advocacy is rooted in a simple but powerful truth: families deserve access to quality early care and learning as a matter of equity, dignity, and economic justice. Oregon families deserve our support to thrive. The systems that support early learning, child care, healthy families, and economic stability are strongest when they are shaped by the voices of those closest to the work and most impacted by the outcomes. Your leadership makes that possible.

Advocacy days like today matter. Your stories matter. You remind all of us in government why this work is urgent. By telling your stories you are helping to make the world work better and more fairly for everyone.

I applaud and appreciate your commitment and persistence. Oregon is stronger because of advocates like you, and I am grateful for your partnership in building a state where every child and every family can thrive.

Thank you for being here and thank you for all that you do.

With appreciation,

Governor Tina Kotek

Thank you for your words of support, Govenor Kotek! And thank you, community, for showing up and showing out on Monday.
